Encouraging a passion for sport

CITC provides a variety of educational and sport-related initiatives for children and young people. We work in line with the national curriculum and ensure high quality educational delivery. Our coaches are fully qualified, DBS checked and hold First Aid and Safeguarding Children certificates.

We deliver a range of fitness and educational programmes to primary schools in the Woking area. We aim to encourage children to enjoy organised physical activity, whatever their ability, and benefit from professional sports coaching. Sessions are carefully devised and run in a safe and secure environment – over time we see children develop an interest in health and fitness, become more motivated, improve their coordination skills and grow in confidence, all achieved through fun activities.

In conjunction with the Pupil Premium Strategic Lead at Bishop David Brown, we are currently piloting a scheme for disadvantaged secondary school pupils that combines an English and Maths enrichment curriculum with fun-based football activities led by one of our qualified coaches.

CITC has a proven track record of running PE lessons in primary schools (previously delivered for over 10 years via Woking Football in the Community). All our coaches hold the Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools and all lessons are carefully planned to adhere to the national curriculum PE guidelines. Lesson plans are supported by assessment sheets and individual pupil evaluation.

When working with the youngest pupils, those in Reception and years 1 and 2, we focus on developing hand-eye coordination skills, including throwing and catching, group work and even dance moves. For pupils in years 3-6, we incorporate invasion games, racket sports and athletics.

As well as running after-school clubs, CITC coaches can provide lunchtime activities. As well as giving pupils some fun and healthy exercise, they return to afternoon classes energised and ready to learn. From Futsal to athletics, we have a range of clubs to cater for different ages and designed to be fully inclusive for all abilities.
